Summer Time with a Red Balloon

I received a Mac gift card for my birthday last year, I’m actually quite shocked I held out this long. I was actually waiting for Mac to put out something that really caught my eye and spoke to me until I obsessed and dreamed about it. Oh the mind of a makeup addict!  And I missed out on the Punk Couture collection(I’m glad I did because I have enough dark lipsticks).

Mac usually puts out some really nice lip shades for spring and summer. I bought Red Balloon and as you can see it’s not quite red, at least on my lips. I LOVE Mac’s Amplified finishes so this was a no brainer to me. I really wish they had more Amplified because the finish gives excellent coverage and silky smooth. Sigh… I really like this lipstick although I’m sure it can be easily duped. This is a perfect Summer color that is bright, but not in your face bright, and the lipstick stays on the lips for a fair amount of time, like most Amplified finishes.

This is a Saturday look I did, not really crazy about the eyes but I wanted to play with and test my Kryolan eye palette.

Command and Surrender- Sigma Fun

I used a sample eye palette I got from Sigma for this look. It came with 3 shades, 1 from each of their palettes; Dare, Flare and Bare. This is the first time using their eye shadows and I must say I really liked the textures of the shadows.  Here’s a breakdown of this simple, fun look!

So according to the Bobbi Brown site they redesigned this product. This is my first time using this product so I’m not sure if the product or the packaging was redesigned.

So first thing first. This is not designed to be a concealer. It doesn’t conceal. It brightens under the eyes. It’s more of a corrector. If you need something that hides or conceals dark circles you could use a concealer under This product or just buy a brightening concealer with a yellow, peach, or salmon undertone.

This is very effective and is a great under eye highlight. It’s like an instant eye lift so it’s great after a sleepless night or early morning. It gives you that extra pick me up. It brightens the entire face and brings everything up. This shade in particular is Dark Peach and it works great on deeper skin beauties.

The texture is really light and fluid. It’s like the liquid version of Bobbi Brown’s corrector in the pot. When I apply this I only use a few tiny dots and blend it in with a fluffy brush. If you use too much it could crease and look a bit cakey.

How I use this: prime or moisturize, apply concealer , apply tinted eye brightener, then foundation.

Magpie and Cocktails- A Birthday Look

I celebrated my birthday on Friday and I went out with friends for a low key but super fun evening! A few drinks, lots of laugh and cake is perfect Friday evening.

I’ve been having Sugarpill’s Magie loose pigment for some time now and I haven’t been able to wear it and I’ve been itching to. I love the color but it’s certainly not an everyday color and I haven’t been going out all that much lately. So I thought this would be a perfect time to break it out. I love dark, smokey looks so I used a black base under the pigment to make the eyes a bit more smoldering.

Going Bright with Sugarpill

This is a fun look I did using Sugarpill Palettes.  It’s bright and bold and I amped it up with some bright pink lips.

Night Out with Russian Red Lipstick

I am a huge fan of red lips and I love wearing red lipstick. Red lips look so classic and elegant especially for a night out. When I usually wear red lips I either go neutral on the eyes or if I’m feeling really bold or want to have that smoldering look, I wear a smokey eye. I went neutral here. I wore this for a night out with the girls. I also contoured my face here. I don’t usually contour my face because sometimes I just think it’s too much, for my taste, but I do think its good for a special night out from time to time, The lighting was pretty poor but I tried to get some better pictures 😦

Psychedelic Punk- A Glitter Look

What I used for this look

I wanted to do something super fun and dramatic. I would wear this out to a party or someplace fun but this is just fun, creative makeup. I Purchased some glitter from Lit Cosmetics at the PhamExpo in June and I’ve been playing with them and used them on clients but I haven’t had the chance to use and play with them on myself.

I hope you like the creation! I loved how this came out and so did my mom. She doesn’t like me wearing so much makeup!

Colors of Brazil- Using Makeup Forever Flash Colors

I used the flash colors from Makeup Forever for this look, just to test out how they wear and how they photograph.I reviewed the products here. The colors are really vibrant. I really enjoyed doing this look and I loved how it came out. Green and yellow are among my personal favorite colors on the eyes. Reminds me of Brazil! I just wanted to test and show how quick and easy this look was. I only used two of the flash colors, 13(yellow) on the lid and 38(teal) in the crease. I also used Urban Decay 24/7 Eye pencil in Graffiti on the lower lash line. This was a really quick look and I really do love these flash colors.

Makeup Forever Flash Color Look with 13 & 38

So a couple of weeks ago I went to the Makeup Forever Launch for their new flash colors seen here. I don’t own the original flash color palette but it has been on my wish list for some time now for my kit.

At the event I got to play with the flash colors palettes and the new individual shades and I really liked the texture of the products. These cream colors may be used anywhere on the body from eyeshadow and lip color to body painting. So I was really intrigued in trying these products. Seeing the artists using these in demos also inspired me. They created some really beautiful, funky works of art. You may see photos on my Facebook page and instagram to the left. Please subscribe 🙂

I really do like the texture of these for they are smooth and blend really well. I used these shades on the eyes, on the cheeks, on the lips and I used the dark brown, 39, as a very natural face contour. These babies are so versatile and they really are beneficial for every makeup artist. You could really just use these for all your models during a shoot or show because you may mix and match shades to customize colors and use everywhere, head to toe. I love how they look and these would be great for fashion makeup or editorial makeup looks. The look gives a nice glossy, wet look to the face, or where ever you use them. Of course they can be set with any kind of powder product. My advice when using these on the eyes is to use an eyeshadow primer first because they could slip and move and they are really creamy. These aren’t meant to wear all day but the primer will help the wear time last longer. I personally like the glossy look especially when using for a shoot. But as always you may build up the color and textures.

When used on the lips they were just as creamy and they were not drying at all. It really felt like a lipstick. It felt nice, not drying but not hyrdrating either. As noted, it’s not meant to be worn all day. However on the lips I do believe they last really long. I didn’t get any bleeding or fading in the 4 hours I wore it. And again you may mix shades to customize.

Here are a few shades I have added to my kit:

39 dark brown- I love this shade as a contour for the face

19 bronze- Looks lovely on the eyes. Great as a base over a primer for longer lasting wear.

01 wine/ dark red- I love this shade as a blush color and a lip color

38 teal- Beautiful teal shade that looks so great with the yellow flash color. If you’re into teal lips, go for it!

25 bright pink- This looks lovely as a blush and lip color

13 yellow- this is such a vibrant yellow and would look great in editorial looks

12 orange- Orange is orange! Great for any use; eyes, lips, cheeks. This is a nice vibrant orange.
