Colors of Brazil- Using Makeup Forever Flash Colors

Makeup Forever Flash Color Look

Makeup Forever Flash Color Look 13 & 38

I used the flash colors from Makeup Forever for this look, just to test out how they wear and how they photograph.I reviewed the products here. The colors are really vibrant. I really enjoyed doing this look and I loved how it came out. Green and yellow are among my personal favorite colors on the eyes. Reminds me of Brazil! I just wanted to test and show how quick and easy this look was. I only used two of the flash colors, 13(yellow) on the lid and 38(teal) in the crease. I also used Urban Decay 24/7 Eye pencil in Graffiti on the lower lash line. This was a really quick look and I really do love these flash colors.

Makeup Forever Flash Colors

12, 13, 25, 38,

So a couple of weeks ago I went to the Makeup Forever Launch for their new flash colors seen here. I don’t own the original flash color palette but it has been on my wish list for some time now for my kit.

At the event I got to play with the flash colors palettes and the new individual shades and I really liked the texture of the products. These cream colors may be used anywhere on the body from eyeshadow and lip color to body painting. So I was really intrigued in trying these products. Seeing the artists using these in demos also inspired me. They created some really beautiful, funky works of art. You may see photos on my Facebook page and instagram to the left. Please subscribe ūüôā

I really do like the texture of these for they are smooth and blend really well. I used these shades on the eyes, on the cheeks, on the lips and I used the dark brown, 39, as a very natural face contour. These babies are so versatile and they really are beneficial for every makeup artist. You could really just use these for all your models during a shoot or show because you may mix and match shades to customize colors and use everywhere, head to toe. I love how they look and these would be great for fashion makeup or editorial makeup looks. The look gives a nice glossy, wet look to the face, or where ever you use them. Of course they can be set with any kind of powder product. My advice when using these on the eyes is to use an eyeshadow primer first because they could slip and move and they are really creamy. These aren’t meant to wear all day but the primer will help the wear time last longer. I personally like the glossy look especially when using for a shoot. But as always you may build up the color and textures.

When used on the lips they were just as creamy and they were not drying at all. It really felt like a lipstick. It felt nice, not drying but not hyrdrating either. As noted, it’s not meant to be worn all day. However on the lips I do believe they last really long. I didn’t get any bleeding or fading in the 4 hours I wore it. And again you may mix shades to customize.

***What do you think of the flash Colors? Would you use them and How?

Here are a few shades I have added to my kit:

39 dark brown- I love this shade as a contour for the face

19 bronze- Looks lovely on the eyes. Great as a base over a primer for longer lasting wear.

01 wine/ dark red- I love this shade as a blush color and a lip color

38 teal- Beautiful teal shade that looks so great with the yellow flash color. If you’re into teal lips, go for it!

25 bright pink- This looks lovely as a blush and lip color

13 yellow- this is such a vibrant yellow and would look great in editorial looks

12 orange- Orange is orange! Great for any use; eyes, lips, cheeks. This is a nice vibrant orange.

Makeup Forever Flash Color Launch- New Shades(plus an exclusive sneak peak)

The New Additions to the Flash Color Collection

Last night Makeup Forever launched their new Flash Color Pro¬†Palette with new individual shades. The palette is nice with some nice pastel shades. I can see this being great as a lip and cheek palette as well as some body art.¬†I don’t own the original flash palette but it has been on my wishlist for quite some time for my kit. Playing with the palette, old and new, these cream colors are so vibrant and so smooth. I really liked the feel of these. They were not sticky or tacky and they weren’t dry.I can see these used on photo shoots or for fashion shows because they are fabulous for multi-tasking. These may be used anywhere on the face and body. There are exceptions as to what may be used on eyes(for example, red because it can stain) but I have seen artists use them anyways. Advice is to use a primer and don’t get them in your eyes(i.e. the lash lines). You can buy the shades in pots, in a stick, as refills to customize and pop them in a palette, or buy the 2 pre-made palettes. There are quite a few new shades added to the flash color collection. All of them so lovely!

Here are a few pictures of the new shades and swatches from the individual pots I took at the event. I will do a review for the shades I got once I play around with them.

***Now for an exclusive¬†(well not really but I was pretty excited about it and I didn’t know about this until last night): I got to play around and get some pictures(not great pictures) of the new Artisan brush Collection from Makeup Forever! I am super excited about these babies coming out in September because I am a huge fan of the brand but has always been disappointed in their selection of brushes. Not anymore! There are 76 ( YES 76) new brushes coming out In September 2013 at Sephora and Makeup Forever Boutiques and they are 5 years in the making. They are SO SOFT and they look so professional. There are a nice variety of face, eye, lip and artistic brushes and the design is look is sleek and beautiful. I love that the end of the each brush is designed so it may be used as a spatula AND to apply your false lashes. Brilliant!!!! The look and feel of these are just different-Luxurious- ¬†and I can’t wait for these to come out!

Here are some photos, not great but you get the point (I really should start taking my real camera to these events). I obviously couldn’t get close up pictures of all 76 brushes but I got close ups of a few. Enjoy!!

Check out my instagram or Facebook page for more photos!!

Makeup Forever Aqua Liner

Aqua Liners 4, 5, 11, 7

Company Description:Rich in polymers, this superior eyeliner offers an impeccable hold that guarantees water-, tear-, and smudge-proof color. Its ergonomic, foam-tip applicator is designed to resemble a makeup brush handle for the quickest, easiest, and most accurate application.

Product: These liquid liners are really smooth and gives excellent color with one stroke. They are a bit watery but that doesn’t take away from the pigmentation. The colors are super bright and vibrant and they are great to add color to any look, from neutral to bold. These really stand out and draw attention. As you’re applying the liners, it doesn’t¬†bleed, an issue I have with a lot of liquid liners. ¬†With 15 gorgeous colors to choose from there is something for everyone. You have the¬†usual, everyday black and brown colors and then there are the bright and bold colors like green, blue gold to name to few. ¬†Most of the shades have some kind of glitter in them, only a few have none. The glitter isn’t overpowering and doesn’t distract from the true color. The glitter doesn’t fall as you apply the liner and it stays put after they have dried because? Yes, like most Makeup Forever products this is waterproof. I’m not sure how they would hold up if you were to go for a swim in these but they don’t smudge and they don’t run once dried which makes these gems perfect for summer because they will hold up in hot and humid weather.¬†I love that although they are waterproof, when you’re taking this off at the end of the night you dont have to scrub them off and they don’t stain your lids. I just rub some kind of makeup remover oil on my lids and they come off.

I wear the liner all day if my lids are primed with eyeshadow. As the day goes on, about within 5 hours, the glitter starts to flake off and fall into my eyes but the color stays stong and vibrant. If I wear the liners alone with no primer or eyeshadow I find that the wear time goes down a lot specially on oily lids. Without primer or shadow I wear these for about 4 hours before they start to flake off and the color starts to fade about an hour after that.

#4-  Lagoon, blue green with shimmer. GORGEOUS!!

#5- Turquise blue with shimmer. Beautiful!

#7- Dark purple with violet sheen

#11- Plum burgundy with shimmer; this one I found to be on the more sheer side. I need to go over the line about 3 times to get good coverage.

Packaging: They come in super small and sleek vial with a sponge applicator. The applicator is really sleek and makes applying the liner super easy. These store just about anywhere and they are definitely travel friendly.

Price:¬†For¬†$23¬†you get¬†0.05oz. A bit on the pricy side but you don’t need 3 or 4 strokes to get full coverage so the¬†vial¬†will¬†last a long time and they don’t dry out. Because they are waterproof there is no re-application required. I think these are great if you live in humid climates and want your look to last all day.

Makeup Forever Full Cover Concealer

Makeup Forever Full Cover Concealer Shade 14

Company Description: “An ultra long-lasting, matte finish, oil-free, waterproof, full coverage concealer.¬†Full Cover is perfect for concealing the most extreme flaws, such as scars, severe skin damage, beauty spots, depigmentation or birthmarks. It can even hide tattoos. Waterproof and long-lasting, it holds even under extreme conditions thanks to its perfectly¬†stable formula. It evens¬†out the skin tone and camouflages imperfections for extended periods of time.”

Product: The concealer¬†is really creamy and smooth. It is not heavy or thick but it¬†does get¬†a bit stiff when applying because it does dry pretty quickly. I believe that’s because the product is waterproof. Once this dries and sets it will not move until you take it off. If you dab this on and blend right away, it blends beautifully! I love Makeup Forever products because when they say something is waterproof, it usually is. Once applied it does not look cakey or dry. It looks very natural and gives full coverage. When I put this on this seems to wake me up…or at least it gives the ILLUSION that I’m awake although I feel like the walking dead. It’s used not only to conceal eye bags but also to brighten the complexion and the eye area. If your eyes are looking dark from tiredness or just from discoloration this helps a lot.

I really love this product! My Go to concealer¬†used to¬†be¬†the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer, which was a fantastic product that gave great coverage. Again it concealed and brightened the eye bags. When I used it all up I went to Sephora to buy during a friends and family sale. I tried¬†the Makeup Forever concealer¬†and I liked it a lot. But I was in love with the Bobbi Brown. What’s a girl to do? How does one choose?! What sold me was the fact that Makeup Forever is waterproof. Sorry Bobbi Brown! With summer coming and all, waterproof is ideal. (IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO READ A REVIEW ON THE BOBBI¬†BROWN CONCEALER LEAVE A COMMENT AND I WILL DO SO!)¬†¬†This lasts all day on me until I take it off. Even if my foundation fades I still have no eye bags! I’ve been wearing this in the most recent pictures here and here.

Packaging: A plastic squeeze tube that’s small and compact, making it perfect for storage and travel. The squeeze tube makes it great for getting the desired amount for application.

Price: $32 for 0.5oz of product. A good price considering this is waterproof so there is no need to reapply and you only need a tiny dot for each eye to get full coverage, so this will last a while depending on how often you use this.

What is your Go To or Holy Grail Concealer and what makes it so special?

Makeup Forever Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick

Makeup Forever Rouge Artist Intense Lipsticks are highly pigmented lipsticks that give full color with just one stroke. There are 50 shades ranging from neutrals to bright bold colors and there are three different finishes; Matte, Pearl and Satin.¬† Shades #1-#9 are Matte; #9-#21 are Pearly; #22-#50 are Satin. Makeup forever doesn’t use actual names for any of their products, they only use numbers. The four shades¬†being reviewed today are all Satin finishes which means they are smoother than mattes¬†(semi-matte) with some conditioning benefits.

It’s kind of hard to describe the texture of these. I usually love the Makeup Forever brand but these are probably my least favorite product by them. They are described as creamy¬†but¬†I don’t think they are all that creamy when applied. When warmed up, or when you blot your lips together, they seem to be a bit more creamy and soft. They apply a bit stiff and unevenly.¬† You have to make sure you have smooth lips for this to look good so I recommend¬†exfoliating¬†the lips and moisturizing¬†before use.¬†The formula is not moisturizing but they¬†don’t feel¬†drying on the lips although they could look dry. I feel they are hard to work with¬†but they are very rich in color. If you love bright lip colors then¬†you will love these. I love bright lips but¬†these are a bit too bright for my taste. I have to either apply the color¬†with a lip brush or smooth the color out with my fingers to get a less intense, even look. Wearing gloss also tones¬†the color¬†down a bit and makes it look less dry. Lets see some colors!

L-R # 31,24,39,23

#23 is a¬†light beige color. It reminds me of Mac’s Gaga 2 lipstick. It’s way too light¬†for me and I have to layer this with a liner or a gloss.

#24 is an orange beige. This is probably the most wearable of the colors I have.

#31 is mauve pink. I typically use this one with a darker purple liner like Mac Nightmoth or MUFE aqua lip liner in 13C

#39 is a coral orange. I like this one but I have to smooth it out to diffuse the color a bit.

#39 on lips

#31 on lips(pls disregard the date)

I have a like- hate relationship with these lipsticks (at least with the colors¬†that I currently own). I like that they are long wearing. I wore these for¬†about¬†5 hours straight, 6 hours max and didn’t notice any color fading.¬†When smoothed out, toned down or mixed with a gloss¬†or lip liner¬†the colors are quite pretty. I hate how difficult these are to apply. I feel like I have to work too hard just¬†to put some lipstick on in the morning!

Plus I think it’s all about personal preference. If you like applying gloss over lipstick or if you go crazy over bright lips then I really think you will love these. Personally I like applying lipstick from the tube and I don’t always wear gloss on top of lipstick. ¬†Because I do find them harder to work with I have been discouraged to buy anymore. At $19 for 3.5g/0.12oz of product the price isn’t bad considering the prices of other brands and they are quite rich in color but I’m not paying that for a formula I don’t care too much for. Maybe during the next trade show I’ll¬†try another finish¬†but I won’t be paying full price for these.

Makeup Forever Aqua Cream

Makeup Forever Aqua Creams are a super pigmented, long lasting cream. It’s¬†a multi use product that can be worn on the lips, face and/or eyes. There are recommendations on which shades can be used where. I personally only use my shades on the eyes so I’m not sure what happens when you use them where they’re not recommended but I assume it could cause some kind of irritation. For example there’s a red shade that is only recommended to use on the lips and the face because red colors and pigments tend to cause eye irritation on some people and it stains the skin, but¬†I have seen people use them on the eyes with no issues. Just test the product on the area before using first. OK enough formalitites. To the good stuff!

The formula is creamy, smooth and very rich in color and pigment. They all give off a nice sheen when applied, not¬† glittery. It doesn’t take a lot to get good color. ¬†It is quick drying and water and smudge proof. On the eyes they can be used as a cream eyeshadow, a liner or as a colored base to make your eyeshadow more vibrant and long lasting.¬†They can be used on the lips but I find them drying when used alone on the lips.¬†They look better when worn under a lip balm. On the¬†face they can be used as¬†a cream blush or as a¬†highlight. With 22 colors ranging from neutrals to bright bold colors, they create long lasting original looks. They blend very well but you have to work really fast to blend it to your liking because once it dries it will not move! They start to dry within 15 seconds and completely dry within 30 seconds.

I love using these as eyeshadow bases. Whenever I do wear color on my eyes the aqua creams make my shades stand out and look more lively and I can pretty much wear it all day and my eyes will look the same as they did when I first applied. I also like lining my eyes with them for a vibrant, water and smudge proof line. The only down side I’ve noticed here¬†is that¬†if you use too much product or if you add more after the color has dried it can look cakey and uneven.

In my opinion these aren’t as creamy and smooth as Mac’s Paint Pots but more than likely that’s¬†because the aqua creams¬†dry really fast and are waterproof. Paint Pots are not waterproof although they do last a while.

Aqua Cream #11 is a BEAUTIFUL gold color. This looks gorgeous with bronzes, greens, oranges or just about any warm colored eyeshadow you can think of. I think this would also make a beautiful highlighter for the face though I haven’t tried it in that way.

Aqua Cream #18 is a really pretty lilac color. It looks really pretty by itself or with other purple colors or even blue colors.

Aqua Cream #21 is my favorite! It’s a gorgeous torquise color. I also love this alone or with greens, blues and purples.

Isn't #21 just beautiful?!

Quick Review:

Product: 4/5- Creamy and smooth texture. Vibrant colors and waterproof.

Packaging: 5/5- Housed in cute, plastic small pots they are compact and store very easily.

Price: 4/5- The cost is $22 for 6g/0.21oz of product.  Not a bad price considering these are multi-use, used on lips, eyes and face.
