Athletic Face of the Day- Gabby Douglas

image

I thought I’d do a feature on the lovely Olympic Athletes of 2012. I have enjoyed every single moment of the games and I’m sad to see them go away until 2016. All the athletes were amazing, beautiful and represented well. I’m super late on this and I probably should’ve been doing this throughout the games instead of waiting the day before the closing ceremonies, but oh well! The idea just came to me so I wanna showcase my favorite Oymoic athletes from these games!

My First athletic face of the day is the beautiful Gabby Douglas, making history as the first African American Olympic all around champion. Her smile is so captivating, genuine and lovely. Her poise and athleticism is so graceful she can’t help but be watched, admired and enjoyed. She’s been getting a lot of press, not because of her 2 gold medals and history making performance but because of her hair! When I googled her name “Gabby Douglas Hair” was the first to pop up, not even her name. How shallow can people be?! Is this the hair Olympics? Is she being judged on how straight her hair can get? Come on people! And the things people say are so mean and uncalled for. People hide behind their computers and post negativity because they know they won’t be found. What’s the point? People have issues beyond repair that stems from jealously and hatred(blatant or in the closet). I feel that if you have an issue with something, don’t watch and shut your mouth! Simple as that! It just makes me so angry when people talk about and judge things they can’t understand and they don’t even try to understand. Look at the bigger picture, not the minor details. Hair is hair but history is forever. Suck on that gold medal!
Sorry if I turned this into my personal rant but I had to get that out!

Angelina Jolie as Maleficent

image

In my daily search on IMDB of what’s to come in the movie-sphere I came across this picture. Oh Yes, the lovely Angelina Jolie is playing the bad ass Maleficent from Disney’s Sleeping Beauty. Angelina Jolie gets a lot of shit because of the whole Jennifer Aniston stuff and people think she’s phony but I think she’s great. I met her once when I was working in Post Production and she was super nice. She wasn’t stuck up, crabby or a diva. And that really made me love her more. I hate STUCK UP divas! But I digress.

I love Angelina and Maleficent is hands down my favorite Disney Villain so this sparked my interest in a major way. She’s so bad ass and just evil! I mean you’d have to be to put a curse and want to kill a baby, right? SO I was excited to see and hear this news. And this picture is amazing! She’s beautiful. I can’t wait to see more looks of the makeup! The movie is like an origins story, told from her perspective, showing her transformation to the Maleficent we love to hate. The movie is scheduled to be released in 2014, so we have to have a while to see what they come up with. I hope it’s good!

What do you think about this? Who’s your favorite villain?

Celebrity Face of the Day-Janet Jackson

image

The one and only! I’ve loved her ever since I can remember. Her style, her grace, her beauty, her seductive and mysterious mannerisms. Everything about her just screams icon! I love this picture because this is the very Essence of Janet Jackson. It’s very sexy even though she’s not showing skin. She leaves much to the imagination. Dressed in all black I instantly think of Black Cat.These boots are absolutely fierce and demands attention. Her face is flawless as always with neutral eye makeup and a bold lip color. I love her look and this photo. Sexy, courageous, bold yet humble. Shows she may be imitated but NEVER duplicated! Keep blessing us with your style and beauty Ms. Jackson!

Celebrity Face of the Day- Viola Davis

I think Viola Davis looked fabulous in her natural hair and her Green Vera Wang dress. Her makeup is so natural it looks like she hardly has anything on, giving her a fresh and flawless face! I love that she wore her natural hair to an event like the Oscars where glamour and beauty is just as important as winning the Oscar. Her look screams for attention and one has no choice but to take notice and wonder who dares walk the red carpet with a toned down look. I know a lot of people frowned(including my African American people) at this look because we are now a society of weaves and chemically processed hair. Ads saying to us that long, straight hair is beautiful. It’s like Viola is telling my African American sisters to embrace your natural look sometimes. Beauty comes from within. It’s different but change is necessary in life.  I mean I love a good weave just as the next person but really Natural is beauty. Well done Viola! Inspire us some more!
