Lush Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub

image

image

First Opened

This is Ocean Salt from Lush Cosmetics. This is my go to face and body scrub. It’s a salt scrub(obviously) but it’s not super abrasive. I use this on every part of my body from head to toe and it leaves the skin so soft and smooth. I tend to like salt scrubs over sugar scrubs because sugar scrubs tend to be really greasy/oily and leaves a residue on the skin and in the tub, not so good when taking a shower. This leaves no residue. And I find with salt scrubs, they dissolve really quickly once in contact with water. This is pretty gentle on the face for a salt scrub if you mix the product well. When you first open the product you can see from the picture that the salt crystals sit on the top. You mix it together and you get a much creamier texture with good scrubbing action. Although it’s not super abrasive, you do need to use gentle motions. Don’t just scrub at your face or you could scratch your skin.

Ingredients

This works really well for acne prone and dull skin. I like to use this when I start getting break outs and when my skin starts looking dull and lifeless. This seems to bring back some life to my skin, leaving me with a bit of a glow. With the salt and the lime juice you get a really nice, natural exfoliation. The coconut and lime oils bring some balance to the skin as to not strip the skin of all it’s natural oils. So it’s not drying at all but you’re not oily either. AND the added bonus is the vodka infusion! 🙂 So it smells lovely…if you like the smell of a margarita(yes I know margarita is Tequila). However you won’t be walking around like an alcoholic but It really does have a pleasant scent, in my opinion. I don’t like that there are parabens in the product but at least they are last on the list. What are ya gonna do? I love this product!

I give this product an A. I would give it an A+ but I took off a point because it’s pretty pricy. They come in two sizes. Small and large. And they are recyclable. Bring back 5 pots and you get a free fresh face mask!

Mac Extented Play Lash

image

Mac’s mascaras are usually a hit or miss for me and most other beauty enthusiasts. I really liked the Zoom Lash even though it got mixed reviews. I’m on the fence with this mascara but I’m leaning more towards a miss. My likes about this mascara is the size of the wand. The wand is thinner and smaller than most mascara wands making this more controllable to apply the product. The wand gets to all the harder to reach hairs like the inner eyes and the lower lashes. I do feel like this mascara lengthens the lashes well and adds a bit of volume. I also like the size and the look of the packaging. It’s cute and attractive to me and not the basic black. I get so tired of seeing black tubes! I love color! That’s probably what drew me to this mascara.

Now on to my dislike, which is only really one but in essence this is the deal breaker for me. After about two or three hours of wear the mascara starts to flake and then I find myself pulling at my lashes and peeling away little clumps of dried product. That’s huge for me and drives me nuts! I don’t want to walk around with flakes of mascara falling into my eyes, then messing up my eye makeup trying to get it out!

I have found a use for this so I wouldn’t have to discard a brand new product but force myself to wear it and suffer the consequences of flaking mascara. I use this mascara for the bottom lashes only now. They add length and darken the lashes and It doesn’t flake as much or get into my eyes; maybe because there aren’t much hairs on the bottom lashes. Whatever it is, it works better this way. The size of the wand makes it more useful for the bottom lashes anyhow.

So my final grade for this one is C; I like the wand a lot and the lengthening aspects but the flaking is a deal breaker. So I won’t be buying this again when I’m out.

Cranberry Love- A Christmas Look

image

image

Hope you all had a nice Christmas, for those who celebrate, filled with love, laughs and fun. The holidays are about being with the people you love and just make you feel good. Laughter is important. Ever notice when you laugh or smile all the BS just seems to go away? We should treat everyday like a holiday.

Anyhow, I did this look before going to have dinner with my family. I used a fun pair of accent quarter lashes for the outer corner of the eyes that made a beautiful wing.  I also did two different lips. The first is a nude for a more subtle look. I liked it but I didn’t love it. I think it looks a lot better with the shimmery pink lips. What do you think?! Hope you like it!

Jao Hand Refresher

Jao Hand Refresher

Jao Hand Refresher

Company Description: “Jao Hand Refresher™ has 65% Ethyl Alcohol (ours is from grapes) to kill germs safely with no Bacteriostats that weaken over time or grow resistant germs or are marine pollutants. We do not use Bezalkonium Chloride or Triclosan which are bad for humans and the environment. Combined with natural cosmetic moisturizers, Jao Hand Refresher™ will not dry out your hands. Plus we have all the goodies: Chamomile, Calendula, Lavender, Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, Geranium and Sage. This is why our boutique blend is more expensive and is the one and only not just for hands sanitizer.”

This hand sanitizer really is lovely, like a breath of clean air. Makeup artists need to keep their hands clean so we don’t contaminate our clients. Our hands are all in their face, after all. Hand sanitizers tend to be drying to the hands although they serve it’s purpose. When doing a makeup job I tend to clean my hands at least 4 times in one hour just to ensure I am sanitary. However that also means my hands can look like snake-skin at the end of a job because the sanitizers are very drying with all the alcohol.

I really do like this product because the alcohol content isn’t high but it’s still effective in killing germs and there are essential oils in it to keep the hands from drying out! When I used this product my hands didn’t dry out at all. I was really amazed! And the scent was very nice also; It’s very earthy and because of the essential oils it’s also very relaxing yet invigorating. When I first applied it I just kept smelling my hands! I also like that this can be used after a workout to freshen up a bit or if you were in a rush and forgot to put on deodorant in the morning. Of course it doesn’t replace a shower or deodorant but it’s really nice to keep this handy in case of emergency.

I really like his product and will be purchasing this product in the future! I can attest that this is the best sanitizer I’ve used. The brand is family owned and they only use natural ingredients! I Love family owned business who give quality products!

A Classy Holiday-Holiday Look 2

image

Here’s another holiday look I wore to a friend’s holiday party this past weekend! This is a nice look for those attending an office party/dinner where it’s not really “appropriate” to wear bright, bold makeup. I wanted to wear a nice red lip since it is the holidays. I love red lips any day but red lips are a must for the holiday.** TIP WHEN WEARING RED LIPSTICKS: Red lipsticks have a tendency to bleed, causing an uneven and messy look. So use a red lip liner to keep the lipstick in place. I often color in my lips a bit with the liner also then I apply the lipstick. ALSO to make the lipstick look crisp and flawless, after applying the liner and lipstick take some concealer to detail around the lips to erase any unevenness for a nice perfect lip!

Golden Emeralds- A Holiday Look

image

The Holidays are in full force which means it’s party time! With office holiday parties and parties with friends and/or family now is a great time to add some sparkle to your look.  A holiday look can be no different from your go to, or your usual makeup look. It can be plain and simple or you can go all out if you like. You can never go wrong with a nice smoky eye or a neutral look for a holiday party especially if that’s your style.  But if you’re really into color, glitter, shimmer and all the other great things that make a festive makeup look, by all means work it!

This was a makeup look I did for a holiday party consisting of gold and green. Green and gold are great holiday colors and they look beautiful together on everyone. Gold adds the shimmer and the sparkle while a nice emerald or grassy green adds some depth and festivity  to the look. Gold is probably my favorite eye shadow color  just because you can go as bold or as subtle as you’d like and it’s pretty neutral and will go with just about any other color.
