Bobbi Brown Tinted Eye Brightener

image

Bobbi Brown Tinted Eye Brightener

So according to the Bobbi Brown site they redesigned this product. This is my first time using this product so I’m not sure if the product or the packaging was redesigned.

So first thing first. This is not designed to be a concealer. It doesn’t conceal. It brightens under the eyes. It’s more of a corrector. If you need something that hides or conceals dark circles you could use a concealer under This product or just buy a brightening concealer with a yellow, peach, or salmon undertone.

This is very effective and is a great under eye highlight. It’s like an instant eye lift so it’s great after a sleepless night or early morning. It gives you that extra pick me up. It brightens the entire face and brings everything up. This shade in particular is Dark Peach and it works great on deeper skin beauties.

The texture is really light and fluid. It’s like the liquid version of Bobbi Brown’s corrector in the pot. When I apply this I only use a few tiny dots and blend it in with a fluffy brush. If you use too much it could crease and look a bit cakey.

How I use this: prime or moisturize, apply concealer , apply tinted eye brightener, then foundation.

Have you tried this tinted eye brightener from Bobbi Brown, old or new?

Lush Buche De Noel Facial Cleanser

image

This cleanser from Lush is a seasonal product that is sold through the holiday season. I think this cleanser is perfect for Winter skin, which tends to be drier, a bit dull and flaky. My first impression when I saw this in the store was that it looks like Angels on Bare Skin, a cleanser I have had in routine for years. The sales associate told me that Buche De Noel is the holiday version of Angels with a few added ingredients to make it more moisturizing.

Here is the description on the website: “Fans of Angels on Bare Skin will love this Christmassy take on our best-selling classic facial cleanser. Perfect for all skin types, Buche de Noel is the cleanser that’s good enough to eat (although we don’t recommend it). Named for the log-shaped French dessert, ours is loaded with fresh ingredients for glowing holiday skin. Sorry, no buttercream here! Ground almonds gently exfoliate away dead skin while kaolin clay acts as a mild, deep cleanser. Then we add almond oil and seaweed to nourish and moisturize seasonal dry patches and leave skin softer than a freshly fallen snow.”

Ingredients

As you can see there are a couple of essential oils and coco butter which will hydrate your thirsty skin, Satsumas which are rich in Vitamin C to help brighten and tone dull skin, Kaolin to help deep clean the skin and ground almonds that gently exfoliates the surface dead skin to give that glowing, fresh face. And yes, you see brandy in the ingredients; I’m not sure what that’s supposed to do for the skin but it seems to works! What I also found interesting is that the cleanser roll is wrapped in seaweed.

The scent to this one is interesting. I can’t place what it smells like- maybe a nutty smell. It’s definitely not fruity or earthy. But it’s kinda strong. It’s not over powering to me but I can see that being a problem for those who are sensitive to smell, and to those who are used to the lack of smell from Angels. It doesn’t turn me off from using it but it’s not the greatest scent, in my personal opinion, because I tend to like fruity scents.

The texture is softer and smoother than Angels, probably because there are more moisturizing ingredients.

I really like the feel of this cleanser, although sometimes I feel like my skin isn’t dry enough to use this just yet. I feel I’ll need this more in mid November to December. This would be amazing for dry and/or sensitive skin.

I have oily skin and I don’t use this every morning like with Angels, but when I do use it my skin looks and feels great.  And my skin doesn’t have that dirty, filmy feeling. My skin feels clean but also like I just applied some moisturizer.

Urban Decay Revolution lipstick Shame

image

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Shame is a really vamp, dark red, wine color. I love colors like this, especially in the fall and winter. It’s such a gorgeous, bad ass shade for the lips and works really well for all skin tones I think. The texture is nice and really moisturizing due to the jojoba ad avocado oils in the product. It’s really smooth and I really like the metallic bullet packaging. It looks super high end..well I guess Urban Decay is a high end brand so Nevermind.

image

However I do have a few issues with this shade. I have noticed that this does tend to bleed a bit on me. I need to use a lip liner to help with the bleeding issue. Also this shade didn’t really apply as evenly as I’d like. When i apply it from the tube, it’s a little bit streaky. Maybe because its super creamy? I don’t like my lipsticks to be streaky. I feel I have to apply with a lip brush to get the even finish that I like, which is a pain if you’re on the go. Is it that big of an issue? Not really, but I’m REALLY picky especially when I am spending my money on a product. Some might not see this as that big a deal.
Bottom line, I really love the color and I love the formula because its really moisturizing on the lips and I wear it often however this particular shade didn’t really apply as well as I would’ve liked it to. Definitely not as even as their shade Venom which I reviewed here.
I give this a B+ as my final grade. Not bad but my pickiness took over here.

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick Venom

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick Venom

I bought 2 of Urban Decay’s new Revolution Lipsticks to try out. I love a good lipstick and love to try new lipsticks and new formulas. So this one was a no brainer.

I got the shade Venom because, first I was attracted to the name, but also the color looked Interesting and a pretty, dark shade great for fall and winter.

image

The formula is really smooth and this shade in particular gives really great pigmentation. Venom is a strong, vampy berry shade, something I love in a lipstick. The texture is very creamy, a bit glossy even. It feels really good on the lips. This texture feels like a Mac amplified to me and I LOVE the amplified formula.  It gives a really nice gloss to the lips and it’s not drying. My lips felt really smooth and soft during wear. There are a nice blend of oils in this lipstick including jojoba oil, avocado oil and shea butter. I also really like the packaging. The tube looks so elegant and shiny in it’s metallic bullet. I am really liking these lipsticks and I can see myself getting more shades in the future. There are so many to choose from!

Have you tried any of the new Urban Decay Lipsticks?

Smashbox Artificial Light Illuminizing Lotion- Glow

image

I’ve been wanting to purchase this product since I received a sample of this some time ago. I really love this product because, as the name says, it gives the face a really beautiful glow. I am such a fanatic when it comes to highlighting products; powders, creams, liquids, you name it I love it! But of course only if it feels good and looks great. These come in 3 different shades, one ideal for just about every skin color.

image

Glow is a bronzey golden highlight lotion, although don’t get turned off by the word ‘lotion’ because the texture is very lightweight and it’s not oily or greasy. I have really oily skin and this didn’t make me oily. The product is shimmery but not glittery. I don’t like glittery highlighting products because it doesn’t look natural. On a normal day we don’t just spontaneously break out into glitter(unless you’re a Twilight Vampire). The products have  ingredients.

image

I like to use this mixed with my foundation. One pump of Glow and my foundation gives a beautiful finish. The name definitely suits the product. For fair skinned beauties this is nice as a bronzer though I wouldn’t mix it with your foundation unless you are going for the bronzed look. It’s perfect for that, otherwise I would recommend using it on the cheeks as a bronzer. For darker skinned beauties this gives a natural, healthy look. You may also add this to your moisturizer or sunblock. There are numerous possibilities with this products which is why i really love it. It’s great for makeup artists and for the run of the mill makeup addict!

I’m a little sadden because I feel like this might be getting discontinued because this product is no longer on the Smashbox website nor is it carried in Sephora but I did find it on other websites like Nordstrom and Amazon. So I really hope it’s not being discontinued 😦 I might have to buy backups just in case!

Skin Authority Vita D Fortified Illuminating Duo

Skin Authority Vita D Fortified Illuminating Duo

Packaging Info

I received this gift from Skin Authority and I’ve been using this for over 2 months now. I am a huge fan of the Skin Authority brand for they have good ingredients and they are a solid, consistent brand. And the owner of the company, Celeste Hilling, is adorable. I had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with her at an event last year and I love her! She really knows her stuff!

This product, VitaD Fortified Illuminating Duo, is very interesting. I’ve never seen a product like this on the market. I am a firm believer in taking care of yourself on the inside to look and feel better on the outside; beauty from within. This product certainly is an advocate for that. Vitamin D is essential for calcium absorption, strong bones, and healthy skin. Vitamin D is so important for your bones, teeth and resistance from disease like heart disease and multiple sclerosis among other things.

In the Duo you get a topical elixir that you apply on your face and also a spice powder that you eat or ingest.

First the topical elixir-  “Multi action, lightweight formula provides a topical dose of Vitamin D and essential nutrients to nourish the skin for firm, bright luminosity.”  The elixir is suitable for all skin types, is oil free and extremely lightweight so it absorbs well. The vitamins include vitamins D2, D3, A, E and K. This product is really good to help with firmness and skin texture because of these vitamins. I like using this under my foundation and primer because it really made my skin feel smooth. Although this isn’t a moisturizer or a face primer, I do notice that my skin feels good and glows. And this didn’t make my skin feel or look greasy.

The Whole Food Spice Powder- “Provides an all-natural, plant-based Vitamin D source in whole food form for more nutritional impact that’s perfect for any diet — including vegan.”   The powder is simply ground portobello mushrooms. This is really good for those who has a deficiency in Vitamin D or who doesn’t get enough  Vitamin D in their diet. When I first opened the powder the scent was a bit overpowering and I thought that would transfer to the taste as well. But it didn’t! There was no strong taste, in fact I couldn’t taste anything. The powder did not change or add any taste to whatever I added it to.  I liked to put the powder in my oatmeal and my smoothie, however you may use the powder with any food, soup, drink or vegetable.

Overall this product is very useful, especially for those who need the extra Vitamin D boost. And it’s so much easier than taking a supplement, which I often forget to do every now and again. It’s still useful for those who just wants to enjoy the benefits of Vitamin D. As far as I know, i am not deficient in Vitamin D but I really liked this product and I certainly do intend to keep using it.

OCC Lip Tar Anime

image

OCC Lip Tar Anime

image

I Love bright lip colors and I love this shade of lip tar even more! it’s so bright and bold, it’s so my style. The color is a bright pink color. The texture is really smooth and blends beautifully. I really liked this for the summer and even though summer is just about over it’s still a lovely color to wear year round. I will surely wear this in October, January and March if i want to.
image

The color is long wearing mostly because it is so bright that it stains the lips as it starts to fade. So you are left with a nice lip stain if the color fades. I prefer to use lip tars with a lip pencil if I want to wear this all day because I notice that the brighter and darker shades tend to bleed. So a lip pencil, or putting a primer on the lips or concealer around the corners of your lips will stop the color from bleeding.

I really like Lip Tars, especially if you’re a makeup artist because they are compact and doesn’t take up much space, they can be mixed and customized to create your own color and they will last forever because you really only need a tiny amount. For best application, apply with a stiff lip brush. That’s my only gripe with lip tars, you need a brush. I’m an on the go type a girl and I just don’t keep a lip brush in my purse. But overall I am a fan of Lip Tars. They offer a wide variety of shades and they are of good quality.

**What do you think of OCC Anime? Do you own this shade?
